Growth Policy
Goals: Housing & Livable Neighborhoods
- Encourage affordability, environmental sensitivity
and energy
conservation through innovative house design, lot layout and
subdivision design. Encourage shared driveways for enhanced clustering.
(Whitefish, 2002)
- Provide adequate parklands, pedestrian access and adjacent open space in higher density neighborhoods. (Whitefish, 2002)
- Implement
mechanisms such as deed restrictions to guarantee long-term
affordability of assisted or subsidized housing. (Flathead, 1994 Draft)
- Preserve
the diversity, integrity, and unique values of neighborhoods,
communities, and rural areas; respect the different elements of
neighborhoods and integrate them so as to form a functional,
aesthetically pleasing and livable whole. ( Missoula, 2002)
- Require residential development that is clustered and/or compatible with existing development. (Gallatin County, 2002)
